¡Hola! Soy Sofía.
I’m a language teacher and a translator with a passion for languages, travel, arts, and different cultures.
I’ve been to more than 40 countries, taught Spanish in 4 of them and nowadays I continue to explore the world as I work and travel. I’m from Argentina where I spend most summers, some months you might find me working remotely wherever an internet connection allows.
To me, language is a tool to connect with other humans and to get us closer to each other. I’ve found that once you know the language of a people, you can finally relate to them as an equal, in a more authentic and humble way.

Why is my travelling experience so important?
Well, apart from being ready to discuss any topic with an open non – judgmental mind, my years around the world have given me (and continue to give me) a true understanding of what language topics should be taught, when and why.
How important is grammar?
Is pronunciation relevant?
Do you have to know all the tenses to consider yourself “fluent”?
Is there a “magical formula” for learning a language?
Are all languages the same?
Is writing important?
What is the “level” of a student?
Which is the “best” Spanish dialect?

Those are some of the many questions that I’ve asked and answered before, and with those answers, I have developed my teaching method.
This is what I firmly believe in:
- $Everyone can learn Spanish, no matter the age or mother tongue.
- $You might learn “faster” if you already know a second language, or if your mother language is Latin derived.
- $Practicing regularly makes a difference. Do your homework!
- $Not everyone learns in the same way. Experiment! Maybe flashcards are good for you, maybe writing, maybe reading. Don’t be afraid to ask your teacher for suggestions.
- $Levels are standards for exams. You might be great at reading but struggle to communicate in a basic situation. Don’t trust levels so much, follow your goals.
- $Grammar is important, it is like the “skeleton“ of the language, but it doesn’t mean that you must get everything perfect to be understood. Perfect grammar takes time and lots of practice, be patient!
- $The Spanish language is as varied as the countries that speak it and my method aims at teaching a neutral form, unless you specifically want to learn the Argentinian way.
