Content of the course
Clase 1: Pronunciation
This is our first lesson, but you can do it any time you want if you are already familiar with the pronunciation of Spanish. I recommend it a lot because it will give you some tips to acquire a natural Spanish pronunciation from day one! It will also help you avoid copying the sounds of your native language. The class will encourage you to listen and repeat phrases that will likely contain words you don’t know, but I recommend you repeat nonetheless to practice and compare the right sounds.
You can do it!
Clase 2: The weather
In this class, we are focusing on some basic phrases to start a casual conversation. If you are stuck in an elevator with somebody and want to break that awkward silence, you will think of this lesson! The class focuses on teaching fixed expressions but also mentions some grammar aspects that will be developed in future lessons.
¡Mucha suerte!
Clase 3: Personal information
Let’s start learning basic rules for asking and answering personal questions. We will see some typical questions and start analyzing interrogative words, some verb forms and personal pronouns. The aim is to teach you the structure so that you can independently create your own questions while you learn more vocabulary and verbs.
¡Vamos por todo!
Clase 4: Gender and number
In Spanish, nouns have gender and number, they can be masculine, feminine, singular or plural. In this lesson, we will see learn how to recognize and change the gender and number according to the nouns.
¡Vamos!
Clase 5: The verb "gustar" (To like)
Let’s start exploring some more verbs. We will learn verbs to talk about hobbies and free time activities. We will recall question structures from previous lessons and integrate what we know with this new topic.
¡A trabajar!
Clase 6: The present tense (regular verbs)
Things start spicing up! Let’s learn the present tense. We will use some verbs from the previous lessons and learn some new ones to talk about everyday activities. We will also complement the structures with time expressions and some more vocabulary. After this class, the basic structure of Spanish should start to make more sense so that you will be able to create phrases autonomously and also questions.
¡El cielo es el límite!
Clase 7: The present tense (irregular verbs)
Let’s continue talking about the present! This time we are learning some irregular verbs. This lesson complements lesson 6 and integrates all the other classes.
¡A estudiar!
Clase 8: Reflexive verbs
If you get up, shower, get dressed and brush your teeth every day, you are doing activities that fall under the category of “reflexive verbs” in Spanish. In this class, we will learn the most frequent ones and how their structure works. Learn this today well and you’ll thank me in the future!
¡Manos a la obra!
Clase 9: Verb combinations
In this lesson we will explore contexts in which two verbs are combined in a phrase in the present, for example in: ¡Quiero aprender español ya!
¡A practicar!
Clase 10: Adjectives
This last class is by no means a break! Most students confuse the verbs “ser” and “estar” and in this class I will show you how easy it is to learn their differences. We will also learn and use adjectives that will help you describe people and places.
